Calgary Couples Counselling, a division of Assured Psychology, helps couples work towards a healthier, more connected relationship by helping resolve conflict, decrease distance, and build stronger connections. We offer in-person couples counselling in Calgary as well as online for residences of Alberta, the Yukon, Nova Scotia, and Nunavut.
Relationships are one of the most rewarding yet difficult parts of life. Assured Psychology’s Couples & Family Counselling is here to help with that. Whether your connection has become distant, the conflict is unhealthy, or you simply want to improve on an already strong bond, our couples therapists are here to support. We strive to help couples and families understand and change the unhealthy relationship patterns to strengthen their bonds. We also support attachment injury repair when needed during the counselling process as well. Â
After years of clinical mental health experience Assured Psychology has come to truly appreciate the key importance of healthy relationships on people’s wellbeing. Due to the importance of relationships for wellbeing, Assured Psychology focuses much of its expertise on providing effective, engaging couples therapy as one of the pillars of our mental health clinic. We use evidence-based approaches, using primarily Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, complemented by the Gottman approach and others as needed.Â
After the initial session, each partner meets one-on-one with the therapists to discuss their own attachment history and current perspective on the relationship. These sessions typically take 75 mins. After these one-on-one sessions, you return to meeting as a couple for future sessions.Â
Regular, ongoing therapy working to address disconnect and conflict. After the initial conflict resolution, the counselling shifts focus toward creating deeper connections and healing or repairing emotional wounds. Regular, pre-scheduled weekly or bi-weekly sessions for 6-8 months are typically encouraged.

Regardless of the state of your relationship, Calgary Couples Counselling can be helpful. However if you are in a state of crisis, particularly after an affair or when contemplating separation, committing to couples counselling can be a crucial next step. If you are in this difficult place and willing to put in the work to see if your relationship can be healed, we’re here to help. Provided both partners are willing to attend, regular weekly sessions for a set period of time, likely 6-8+ months, are strongly encouraged, particularly if your relationship is on the brink of ending. Your relationship likely didn’t get into this situation overnight so it typically takes some time and effort to get out of it, but is possible for many. After all, your relationship is one of the most important and influential parts of your life, it deserves a chance to be healthy and connected.Â

Badger and Turtle Face the Storm follows a pair of friends who learn to work together under stress. This book is meant for not only children to enjoy, but as a tool for families to better understand a common, hurtful pattern that can occur, particularly between parents. By better understanding this pattern, it allows someone to be able to change it more easily, resulting in a positive impact on the home environment.

Relationships are crucial to our personal happiness and wellbeing. In fact Harvard released a study a few years ago demonstrating they are one of the most important elements that influence not only our wellbeing but our mortality.
Couples run into sexual issues for a vast array of reasons that include physical, emotional and psychological issues. Sexual trauma often complicates sex for couples.
